Happy New Year bloggy friends! I hope this year brings you much joy, peace and prosperity!
I know this is so cliché, but for the New Year, I’m going to covet fabulous new workout clothes.
I find that new clothes and new running shoes have a way of keeping me motivated to stick to my New Year’s workout routine. At least for a few weeks.
These Athleta Stripes Chaturanga™ Capris are just such the pants to keep me on the treadmill or in my PiYo class (I’ve dubbed this “living hell in the gym”) just a little longer.
Contrary to popular belief, the horizontal stripes can actually be quite flattering. So hopefully they’ll make my butt look good enough to wear when running errands after I’ve stopped wearing them to run on the treadmill.
My sons bought me a run skirt from Lululemon for mother’s day. While I’ve worn it to golf and to walk (and maybe just to hang out in), I hadn’t yet used it to run, which is precisely why I wanted it in the first place. I wanted something cooler than pants, but didn’t want the underneath shorts to ride up – shocker! there’s not space between my inner thighs.
Tonight I ran over three miles in the little skirt that could, and I’m hooked. I want more and sadly, my lululemon store here stocks like 4 pieces and they are sold out online in every size but like 0 and 2!
I guess I’ll just have to visit Lululemon.com EVERY day until I find another skirt that is as utterly fantastic as the Pace Setter Skirt… and one that makes my butt look as good (so my husband has said!)
I’m sitting home with a cold this morning, and thinking about how long it’s been since I’ve worked out. 10 days to be exact. The plague spread through my house, and left me untouched… but yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I jumped on LuluLemon’s website in the spirit of working out to see what cute things they have going on there. I instantly clicked the skirts and dresses link and found a super cute skort. So cute, in fact, that it might actually inspire a workout.
And they also have great tanks in fun colors and unique styles. So, I may as well throw an entire outfit into my virtual shopping cart, right?
I’m sure you won’t be surprised to find out that many times, my tendency to work out is based largely on the gear (read outfits) I get to wear. I spend much more time in my workout wear than pretty much anything else I own. I usually put it on first thing in the morning to ensure that I have no excuse not to go on a moment’s notice that day. With that said, my workout wear gets it’s fair share of “overwear!”
Most of my yoga pants are now a washed out black-ish color from thousands of washes. My sports bras and tanks are all too tight and too short because I have a much bigger chest and midsection post kids. My socks that wick away moisture are also gray-ish and are losing their elasticity from too many tumbles in the dryer. My running shoes have met their mileage limit… this has more to do with walking around the zoo with my children than it does actually logging miles on the trails.
With all of that said, my covet today is about new gear. Sometimes looking good inspires me to do things that make me feel good and that are good for me. So my covet this day is new running shoes (I buy the same exact pair of Nikes every time!) and new workout clothes. I love these cute and comfortable options from Athleta.com… and since I’m at it, I wouldn’t mind looking like the model either!
