Anthropologie: New Arrival Edit

The Anthropologie catalog arrived in the mail this weekend. I always love to flip through and see what beautiful landscape and props they’ll use to show off their bohemian-leaning lines. And this catalog was no exception. Case and point…

I gotta say it was full of stunning items with which I’d love to line my closet. If only had a little more lining my wallet – it’d be fun to start from scratch right from the pages of Anthropologie.

From ballgowns to bathing suits, here’s a roundup of some of most favorite pieces in the New Arrivals section.

Pintura_Ball_Skirt_-_anthropologie_com

Literally a ball gown… er ball skirt & tank

And this little black number… va voom!

Love that you could pair this sheath with a number of matching cardis, sandals and bright jewelry options.

Could the pleating on this bodice be any more gorge?

Triumph_Edelweiss_Lace_Bra_-_anthropologie_com

Well you gotta wear something underneath, right?

Blue_Skies_Cami_-_anthropologie_com

I don’t know which I like better, this flowy top in turquoise or the eyelet shorts.

This top is so ultra chic up front (and back!)

And last but not least… this gorgeous scalloped maillot that is no longer available. I just couldn’t skip it!

At Long Last, H&M Online

An H&M E-commerce site?

Yes! Finally!  I heard it yesterday, and it’s rumored to be launching in June this year.

For those of us stuck in the land of limited shopping options, we depend on online shopping for access to some of the most fun fashion out there.

I take every opportunity I get to shop H&M when I am in bigger cities.  I love it for my kids, my husband and myself.  And now, if all goes well, I will have easier and more frequent access.

Next best thing?

A store right here in town… what’s the population requirement for that?!

My paying gig: Maternity fashion for the modern mamma

So I haven’t made a formal announcement as far as littleblacksweats.com is concerned, but this post may tip you bloggy friends off to the obvious.

I am happy to report that my husband and I are expecting another baby boy this summer (our third!)  At the time this blog was published, I was just 13 weeks along, but am on the verge of hitting the 16-week mark on Friday – 4 months down, an eternity to go, it seems!

Maternity clothes are my new reality.  So what does a momma-to-be-again wear when warmer weather hits and pup tents are out of the question?  Ive put together some fun options for day-to-night, casual weekends, and beach or pool time.

Check them out here!

Daily Covet: Drop Waist Leather Dress

I love the shape of this drop waist dress from Oasis.  It’s completely girly-girl while the faux leather fabric is more tough girl with an edge.

I prefer leather to faux leather 99% of the time.  But this dress appears to have attractive lines and quality construction.

I guess having it in my possession is the only way to tell for sure… yeah, that’s it.  I’d better order it and do a quality check on this cute frock!

Daily Covet: Sandals with a Pop

Is there a theme today?  I guess if there was, it would be items that go pop!  But I popped in completely the opposite direction from the disco jeans…

I ran across these adorable sandals today.

Seychelles Snapdragon Heels, modcloth.com $89

While it would be easy to throw them on with a beige linen sundress I have, I went looking for another feminine frock instead.  Something with a little more oomph!  Bring on the very affordable Dorothy Perkins sleeveless dress:

Navy belted pintuck dress, dorothyperkins.com $39

But an outfit isn’t complete without statement-making jewelry and a classic handbag.  So here you go!

Dorothy Perkins dress, Seychelles sandals, Kate Spade handbag (sale $159)

Daily Covet: Pants with Pizzazz

AG Adriano Goldschmied navy ankle legging sequin pants, http://www.agjeans.com $225

When I was shopping for my Christmas party outfit several weeks ago, I tried on the most fabulous pants.  Too fabulous for my Midwestern town – a town that thinks khakis are dress pants – but fabulous nonetheless.  (I love you anyway, town!)

They were so fun to wear while parading around on tip-toes (simulating heels), in the dressing room.  And with a navy silk flowy tunic, they were nothing short of monochromatic perfection… that is, for someone who’s big night out doesn’t consist of two young children and serious sorting of sugar packets at the local neighborhood “pub food” place.  I mean I love Goldberg’s, but I won’t be wearing sparkle pants there anytime soon.

And what’s better?  They are made with lots of stretch by AG Adriano Goldschmied, a very wearable designer label for those of us, who have had children.  They called them leggings, but they are very 5-pocket-jean-looking leggings, if you ask me.

No matter, try them on for yourself and make plans.  Big plans!

Daily Covet: These Bubbles Aren’t For Kids

I’ve been buying fun, costume-y jewelry for years.  Some of it I get rid of, some of it I keep forever, and most of it – well, I never actually wear it.

But I’m turning over a new leaf.  Not a resolution really, but I’m trying to put some effort into getting dressed every morning.  I’ve always been of the opinion that if you look good, you feel good.  And I need all the feeling good I can get this winter!

I have had my eye on this necklace or a version of this necklace for a few years now.  Because of the price, and the number of times I would have actually put it on (zero), I’ve declined.  But as of today, I have successfully worn something other than my stud earrings and my wedding band, three days in a row!

What can’t you wear this with?  A strapless taffetta dress.  A white, slub t-shirt and jeans.  A cashmere twinset and pencil skirt.  A button down flannel shirt (as long as it’s a flattering cut) and a wool mini… the possibilities are endless.  And it’s such an effortless way to say, “Hey, I put some thought into getting dressed today!”

It might just be time to spend a little of my Christmas money…

Turquoise Bubble Necklace, J. Crew $150

Daily Covet: I just can’t get enough

Tescher's History of Fashion, Volume 1 & 2, amazon.com $38

As if I need another coffee table book in my life, I found this beautiful History of Fashion set in one of my daily emails.

And just in time, my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas.  I told her about my newest covet.  It’s got to be obvious by now, that I love, love, love clothing.  And not just the kind that is practical and keeps you protected.  In fact, I tend to lean more toward the clothing, which provides no practicality and that, which you actually have to protect.

But I figured this is a must-have for a girl who just can’t get enough fashion.  And it got glowing reviews from readers!

Now I’m crossing my fingers that Mom decides I must have it too!
