I just looked back at the time stamp on my last post and realized I’m failing miserably at maintaining this blog. I sortof wish I could say I have got my covet-ing in check, but that wouldn’t be true. I still spend a lot of time “window shopping” online. That is to say, filling up my virtual carts and leaving them to sit un-checked out.
But this time of year, I’m taking special note because I have several people who ask for lists or just a few things that I may have my eye on for Christmas. And so, to make their lives easier and also to get a much-needed post on the books for the end of the year, a few of my favorite things is here!
“A few of my favorite things” is generally what I title this post each year, but it is also the song lyric from one of my favorite movies, “Sound of Music.” The movie also reminds me of the holidays because it used to be shown on public TV the night of Christmas. My family would cuddle up at my grandparents’ house after the dinner had been eaten and the packages had been opened.
Anywho, let’s get to it. From creamy tunic sweaters to spency designer watches and key fobs that will also charge your phone, here are a handful of items I love this year.

Tory Burch Fleming Quilted Lambskin Shoulder Bag – Vonmaur.com
J. Crew Cotton Poplin Pajama Pants and Top – JCrew.com

Sunglasses are probably my most favorite accessory.
Sunglasses are essential for me because my light-colored eyes are extremely sensitive to sunlight… and by sunlight I actually mean daylight. Yep, even the grayest of days require sunglasses.
Last Christmas, my husband bought me my first pair of Tom Ford sunglasses and now I’m hooked. So when I found these sophisticated Tom Ford gold-framed shades on Zulily today, I immediately added them to my “want” list.
Michelle Williams either has a fabulous stylist or she has impeccable taste… probably both. But she looks amazing in this Louis Vuitton gown. The color looks great with her fair skin.

This is probably my favorite dress of the night…. not shocking that it’s on a super model. Milla looked polished and so Hollywood siren-y… almost like vintage Oscars.
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab, Oscars 2012
I have this thing for green these days. Viola looks beautiful as this gown not only looks great against her skin, but it shows off her amazing arms and shoulders. She must have a great stylist too… and a great trainer!
Viola Davis in Vera Wang, Oscars 2012
I love everything Tom Ford has ever made, and this is no exception. Although, it looked so much better without the cape… down with the super hero look.
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford, Oscars 2012
I was just watching that awful movie with Cameron, Kate Winslett and Jude Law today… thinking how Cameron is really not such a good actress. But she totally redeemed herself tonight by being a lovely presenter and looking stunning in this Gucci gown.
Tomorrow, I’m having a pre-Valentine’s Day brunch with my best girls. We picked a great little place, Dario’s Brasserie, for a French-themed morning of Mimosas and amazing French/European cuisine. What’s more “amour” than French-inspired anything?!
And this is what I’ve chosen to wear. Red pants (I can’t stop wearing them!), the ever-popular staple – horizontal striped tees, statement-making jewelry in a poppy color and of course, great platform heels for a long and lean line with trouser-style pants.
