Daily Covet: A few of my favorite things

I just looked back at the time stamp on my last post and realized I’m failing miserably at maintaining this blog. I sortof wish I could say I have got my covet-ing in check, but that wouldn’t be true. I still spend a lot of time “window shopping” online. That is to say, filling up my virtual carts and leaving them to sit un-checked out.

But this time of year, I’m taking special note because I have several people who ask for lists or just a few things that I may have my eye on for Christmas. And so, to make their lives easier and also to get a much-needed post on the books for the end of the year, a few of my favorite things is here!

“A few of my favorite things” is generally what I title this post each year, but it is also the song lyric from one of my favorite movies, “Sound of Music.” The movie also reminds me of the holidays because it used to be shown on public TV the night of Christmas. My family would cuddle up at my grandparents’ house after the dinner had been eaten and the packages had been opened.

Anywho, let’s get to it. From creamy tunic sweaters to spency designer watches and key fobs that will also charge your phone, here are a handful of items I love this year.

Daily Covet: Anthropologie Nocturne Cowlneck Sweater

‘Tis the season for pulling out your fabulous collection of the coziest sweaters. If you’re like me, you’ve already taken inventory of your softest sweaters in an effort to decide who will stay and who will go.

I’ll admit, I have a few “favorites” that are so much not my favorites anymore that I need to consign or donate them to make room for new favorites…

And that brings us to new favorites, which include this totally gorge Nocturne Cowlneck from Anthropologie. The chunky knit pullover from Margaux Lonnberg not only features my favorite clothing color (navy is the new black after all), but it’s also from France, which means this Francophile should probably have it, if for no other reason.

But the coolest part of this totally fab sweater is the slouchy, unfussy, totally not-working-too-hard cowlneck collar. What a versatile piece for this years navy and gray-heavy wardrobe options.

Daily Covet: J.Crew This “Darling” Sweater

I. MUST.HAVE.THIS!

J.Crew’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection happens to contain this fabulous cashmere sweater plastered with the word “Darling” across the front.

And I need it!

The thought of heather gray cashmere and bright pink scribble puts this covet-worthy sweater at the top of my “to want” list!

Daily Covet: J. Crew in Retro Jade

J. Crew again?!

And the answer is YES! for a very good reason.

If you follow me on Pinterest or caught the post on handbags in my favorite color, you have probably picked up on the fact that I UH-DORE turquoise.    J.Crew sent me an email with their fall lookbook (Thanks J.Crew!) and says that I can even pre-order.

Of course, I had previously checked out pics from the J.Crew Fall 2012 show (see here), so I knew that I was going to be coveting half the store this season. (Is this different from any other season?)

My two favorites:  the Wool Cafe Capris in Retro Jade and the Tippie Sweater in Jade Snake Print.  J. Crew is calling it jade.  Green?

Nonetheless, both are completely drool-worthy!

Mad Men Countdown – 19 days

Less than three weeks, bloggy friends, until the return of the best show on TV!

So tonight, I’ll feature the super hot stylings of John Hamm in a few of his more casual ensembles.

And although I am a HUGE fan of the well-dressed man in a tailored suit and white shirt, I gotta say that Don Draper in a sweater ain’t half bad either!

Daily Covet: 10 Items I wish Crewcuts made for J. Crew women

I just received a couple of catalogs from one of my favorite stores, J. Crew.  I’m sure you’ve guessed this by now, as I feature them frequently.

But one thing bums me out.  There are some really cute things in the Crewcuts catalog (children’s line for those of you not from this planet) that I would love to have in regular women’s sizes.

In fact, there are 10 things off-hand that I would kill to own (well, maybe mame) in my own size.  And they are as follows:

Girls' jaspé zip cardigan, jcrew.com $55

Girls' pep squad skirt in stripe $40

Girls' patch-pocket skort, jcrew.com $45

Girls' side-zip café capri in apple bobbing, jcrew.com $68

Girls' pretty kitty cardigan, jcrew.com $70

Girls' heathered tumble skirt, jcrew.com $44

Girls' wafer terry colorblock dress, jcrew.com $50

Girls' chino ruffle jacket, jcrew.com $70

Girls' Mila engineer-stripe ballet flats, jcrew.com $55

Girls' mini-ruffle dress in ikat, jcrew.com $72

Daily Covet: Cashmere for Kids

The majority of our clothing budget is spent on our two boys.

It’s so much more fun to buy for them because their sizes are so predictable.  They always fit into the size that their age says they are supposed to fit into.  If anything gets too small, it’s only because the sleeves or the legs are too short.  It’s never because they have to lay down on their beds to get their jeans buttoned, like one person in my household, who shall remain nameless.

So when I received one of my daily emails from Barney’s this morning, I immediately had to check out the sale on the most adorable Christopher Fischer cashmere sweaters.  Now, I will admit that I have only invested in cashmere for the older of my boys.  And the youngest of my boys, specifically, will NEVER get cashmere anything because of his lack of table manners, but these cashmere sweaters for kids from Barneys.com (sale $98) are almost irresistable.

See for youself.
