Daily Covet: J.Crew Hummingbird Florals

I received J.Crew’s stylebook catalog today, and got a better glimpse of a print that has been catching my eye in ads for the past several weeks.

The J.Crew Hummingbird Floral print, which is part of their “Collection” line (read $$$), has absolutely stolen my heart.  I love the pale blue background.  I love the pops of red, black, white and bits of pale pink, green and purple against the rich silk/cotton blend fabrics.

And the Hummingbird Floral-print Etta pump with glitter heels are an absolute stunning combination that will be hard to go without.  But then again, that little minaudière would be a treasured piece for many years to come!

In fact, I want virtually every piece in the collection.  But at J.Crew’s inflated “Collection” prices, I may have to just choose one!

Summer silk tunic from Alice & Trixie

This is my most favorite print right now.  I’ve seen throw pillows, curtains, sun dresses and now this adorable Alice & Trixie silk tunic… in pink, no less.  And flowy silk with short white chino or linen shorts, wedge sandals and oversized bangles are perfect for virtually any casual summer activity.  Don’t you agree?

Daily Covet: Gucci… all of it

Have you seen the 2012 Spring/Summer collection from Gucci.  It’s gorgeous.  Sleek, modern, classic, elegant – you name it, they’ve done it.  Here are a few of my favorites.  What are yours?

Gucci GG Bamboo-Print Triangle Top, Neimanmarcus.com $550

My favorite color and the style will showcase those hard-earned shoulders and arms!

Gucci Asymmetric Dress, NeimanMarcus.com $1450

Who doesn’t love green?  Especially in the Spring, when you’ve spent the last 4-6 months dying to see signs of life outside.  I love the flowy style – which can be great to cover things you didn’t work so hard on…

Gucci 1970 Medium Shoulder Bag, Neimanmarcus.com $3590

What can I even say about this?  It’s just beautiful. beautiful. beautiful.  And not anywhere near this girl’s budget.

Gucci Delphine Mid-Heel Ankle-Strap Sandal, Neimanmarcus.com $675.00

I feel like these shoes scream, “Studio 54!”  Now, I’m too young to have ever been there in its heyday, but there’s this sexy 70’s vibe with the mirrored wedge heel, and the black toe makes them scream, “Sophistication!”

What collections are you into this year?  And more importantly, which ones are you going to try to emulate by wearing affordable knock-offs?

Daily Covet: Silk & Soaring Window Treatments

Back in the day of Domino Magazine (0f which I am still mourning the loss), and around the same time we bought our little English Tudor, I fell in love with these drapes.  So much so that I had to pull out the page, and add it to the “house file” that I have yet to create 5.5 years later.

And now, when decorating for Christmas is underway, I feel the need to have soaring blue drapes.

I would hang them way up high, to make my already high ceilings soar even more.  And the voluminous and rich silk would fall into puddles on my wood floors.  Wood floors that are too light and need to be refinished darker, I might add.  But a covet for another day….

Drapes are like hair for your window.  Although my windows have beautiful plantation shutters.  I feel like they need their “hair” done, especially when I’m trying to make my fairly long and narrow living room feel cozy.

from former Lucky Magazine, I think...
