Daily Covet: Joan & David Cicilee Pump

Shoes.

One of my all-time biggest passions.  I collect them and can remember every bad decision I’ve made to finally let go of a certain pair.  It’s never failed that at some point, I’ve needed or wanted that exact pair of shoes for some reason.

…brings me to these shoes!  These Joan & David Cicilee pumps that would’ve been perfect for my “Gatsby” soirée early last month.

I had a similar pair of these shoes once upon a time.  I loved the cut-outs and the ribbon.  And now, I am particularly into “cage-y” style shoes, which I guess these could be classified as… in the most demure context anyway.

And they aren’t $700 like my other coveted footwear!

What a super cute mash-up of brands.

Kate Spade’s cute patterns and kicky colors paired with Keds’ classic and simple style will launch exclusively at Nordstrom this month.  The price of the eight available styles is $75-$85 and are in honor of Kate Spade’s 20th anniversary.

Shades of Jade

One of the hottest colors for fall also happens to be one of my favorites.  Call it “Jade”, call it “Peacock”, call it whatever you want, but call it “gorgeous!”

Here are a few of my favorite things for fall, not only in shades of jade, but in super luxe fabrics and super feminine styles.

Maison Martin Margiela Cutout Illusion Pump

I just had to post these Maison Martin Margiela pumps I found today.

I can’t decide if I love them or hate them, but I have to admit they are unique.

What do you think?

Daily Covet: Classic Vans in Checkboard

Vans were as common, if not more so, than underwear when I was growing up in Southern California.

Classic Vans were worn by skateboarders, BMX riders and surfers starting in the early 70’s.  And although, Vans have always been popular, they have had a resurgence the last few years as they have put out more styles and colors.  And as J.Crew picked up Vans for their Crewcuts line for kids, Vans are once again a household name all over the country.

Of course, I have always loved the look of vans, but now I am thinking practicality too.  My youngest son is a few weeks away from starting preschool.  In order to save myself and his teachers some time and angst, I’m thinking I want to order him these adorable checkerboard Vans in bright blue and orange.

As I mentioned in my blog several weeks ago, color is king.  And these Classic Vans slip-ons definitely boast some color.  What a cute addition to a little boys wardrobe, which doesn’t have the option of fun, frilly details like a girl’s would.

My hope is that he’ll love the independence of putting on and taking off his own shoes as needed.  I know I will!

Back to School

I’m sending my first born to school in 6 days.
He’s excited.  I get knots in my stomach just thinking about it.
He’s ready, but I can’t believe he’s going to be gone all day, every day.  He’s been with me for almost 6 years… my buddy. my associate.  my Tomas the Train enthusiast.  my personal shopper.  my lunch date. my baby.
So, in honor of my little guy’s first day of school, I’ve put together a fun collection of “Back to School” items that any girl could show off — in class or otherwise!

Daily Covet: Anthropologie’s take on the black & tan

You know how when you find those shoes that you just love, and you can’t decide whether to get them in black?  Or in tan?  Or both?

These Anthropologie black & tan heels will help you make that decision toute suite, with their adorable two-toned selves.

Never more will you have to pack two pairs of heels for a long weekend.  Wear them with bare legs and the perfect pedicure in my favorite, OPI’s “Thrill of Brazil.”  Or pair them with gray tights and cute skirts when the weather turns cold.

These versatile Anthropologie heels are for the chick, who can’t decide between her favorite jeans, a sexy pencil skirt or a feminine dress.

Out-of-closet redesign for shoes

I’m out of closet space.

My old home has very small closets, definitely not built for a clothes horse like me.

There are two small closets in the master bedroom, one for each my husband and me.  And one in the guest room, which I have taken over, as well.  I keep special occasion items in there usually, and sometimes blazers or jackets that are a little more bulky.

I have been swapping out my shoes for six years now.  Putting the decidely fall/winter ones away in the spring, and the spring/summer ones away in the fall.  It’s a big pain, and sometimes they overlap.  Since I am a bit of a collector of shoes, I often forget great shoes that aren’t right in front of me.

So, I’ve been hunting for ways to store shoes within reach all year long.  And these are some of the great ideas other people have had.

Until I find a piece of furniture that looks like this last pic, maybe I’ll just use one side of the crib I just took apart instead!  What d’ya think?
