Daily Covet: Franco Sarto Riding Boots

Riding Boots.  Yep, I’m still looking for great black riding boots.

I have needed new black boots for 2 years now, and just hadn’t found the ones I wanted (and could afford!)  But I think I have finally found the boots that will replace my favorite black boots with a broken zipper.

These Franco Sarto Carlotta boots are perfect.  I love the low heel, which means they will be easy to walk in.  And the butter black leather is beautiful like a dressage boot .  AND the cool buckle detail is a little biker chick, to boot… pun intended.

I think I gotta have ’em!

Daily Covet: Puddle Jumping with Hunter

Last fall/winter, I searched high and low for rain boots that I loved.

And more importantly rain boots that actually fit my calves.

I found some equestrian-style boots that I adore, and have to laugh at the fact that I have been looking for rain boots when this is the dryest summer on record.

But you know how I love to start early.  So, I’ve located cute rain boots with a 16 1/4″ circumference around the calf area.  Not only will these Hunter boots  fit, but I will also have extra room to tuck in my skinny jeans, which has been problem #2 with most boots.

While I’ve ordered Sporto boots, Sperry boots and have tried on others, I have yet to find the “right” pair.

Hopefully, these cute Hunter Bessy Boots will be my ticket to puddle jumping this fall…. That, and some rain in the midwest.

Mad Men Countdown – 24 days

Here we are 24 days from my favorite show’s return to the small screen.  I can’t wait to see what the writers, and more importantly Janie Bryant, have in store for us this season.

I can tell you one thing, the news that the premier would be two hours long almost had me in a frenzy!

But for today, we’ll have to reminisce about the amazing wardrobe featured in past seasons.  My second favorite outfit was from Betty’s stint at the stables. Check out her houndstooth hacking jacket and gorgeous knee high boots, both of which you could wear any given day this decade!

This coat is most likely a cashmere blend, and looks absolutely scrumptious to wear.

Neighborhood Christmas Progressive

So, you made it through your Friday afternoon pre-holiday office bash and you may still be nursing yourself through Saturday afternoon.  But come Sunday afternoon, your neighbors are doing their annual holiday progressive to eat, drink and be merry. (If you’re anything like me – to show off how much time and effort, you’ve put into your Christmas décor!)

You’ll need something casually cute.  And most likely some slip on-and-off footwear, if you live in the colder (read sloppier) climate like me.  And your cape will be just as easy to throw on and off – or to just leave on!

Daily Covet: Give me the boot

I have a very sad, old pair of very loved and heavily worn black knee boots.  I think they have accomplished their mission and are ready to hang up their soles this fall.  So I’m on the hunt for new boots, preferably equestrian-style riding boots.

I tend to love the ones that have a hint of metal detail – or maybe even detail that beats you over the head – so here is what I’ve come up with.  Three of my favorite pairs in black, of course!

Salvatore Ferragamo 'Fersea' Leather Boot, Nordstrom $695.00

Tory Burch 'Aaden' Tall Boot, Nordstrom $495.00

DKNYC 'Cascade' Boot, Nordstrom $159.95

Surprisingly, the least expensive ones are my favorites.  They are a little more casual, have a great lug sole (perfect for Midwestern winters!) and I love the “ruched” look of the shaft.  I’ll keep looking but I think these are a great start to my search, don’t you?!
