Espadrilles, this summer’s must-have shoe

When I was in college, espadrilles were HUGE, as they were several times before in 20th century fashion trends.

I had a few pairs by Andre Assous, one of which was an olive and white checked pair that I adored.  As in many cases, I donated them or gave them away or something…. and am kicking myself now.

About seven years ago, I purchased another wedge pair in turquoise satin with bright turqoise ribbons to wrap around my ankles.  And I did hold on to those, and probably always will.

But if you were like me, and got rid of all your espadrilles… or you need to try some out for the first time, you’ll find no shortage of options.  And in no shortage of heel heights too!

Daily Covet: Weekend-worthy DVF dresses

I made a resolution this year to purchase with purpose, and to put a little thought into what I’m wearing when I leave the house.  Too many days last year, I went the easy route and spent entire days in my little black sweats, t-shirts and sports bras.

I have high hopes for the summer.  I live in dresses and lightweight cotton skirts anyway, which makes it much easier to look put together.  So this DVF dress spoke to me right away.  It’s comfortable, casual but can also be brought up a notch with metallic shoes and accessories – perfect for taking the kids to pool or a glass of wine with my husband on a warm evening out.

DVF Minkino V-neck dress, neimanmarcus.com $375; Kelly & Katie Chainlink Stras Tote, dsw.com $50; Michael Kors oversized watch, bloomingdales.com $250; Mystique Gold Crystal Discs Sandals, pret-a-beaute.com $93; Kenneth Jay Lane Turquoise earrings, charmandchain.com $212

Valentine’s Brunch

Tomorrow, I’m having a pre-Valentine’s Day brunch with my best girls.  We picked a great little place, Dario’s Brasserie, for a French-themed morning of Mimosas and amazing French/European cuisine.  What’s more “amour” than French-inspired anything?!

And this is what I’ve chosen to wear.  Red pants (I can’t stop wearing them!), the ever-popular staple – horizontal striped tees, statement-making jewelry in a poppy color and of course, great platform heels for a long and lean line with trouser-style pants.

Daily Covet: Watch Whore.

MICHAEL KORS Golden Oversized Runway Watch, michaelkors.com $250

Michael Kors, I’m in love with his watches.  I want lots of them.  I want to need one of those men’s watch boxes to display all my cool watches.

So… I’m flipping through one of my many magazines and I catch the Michael Kors print ads.  You know the ones featuring some tall, leggy, sun-kissed blonde with a large gold-toned chronograph watch on.

And… my crazy bad lust for that watch starts all over again.  Really?  How many watches can a girl have?
