In honor of the fact that New York Fashion Week and the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week are wrapping up today, here’s an eclectic sampling of some big names, who used BIG color for their Fall 2012 collections.
At first glance, Victoria Beckham’s collection struck me as “buttoned up” and modest, which aren’t really adjectives I would use to describe her personal style. But you will notice that each of these looks are extremely body conscious, which absolutely does describe her personal style.
I love this look. The color remains this fall, although more subdued than the shades of the Spring and Summer collections, and it’s still super sophisticated.
Thakoon is one of my favorites. (The romper I posted yesterday was part of their collection too!) This vibrant shade of fuchsia paired with animal print shoes is absolutely one of my most favorite combinations.
Let’s not forget a fashion legend, Oscar de la Renta. The collection takes the so right now pretty pastels right into Fall and Winter. Talk about standing out, should you choose to prolong your own pastels into the next few seasons, no one will miss you in a sea of blacks, greys and navy.
And so as not to forget the maker of a major portion of my wardrobe, here are a few looks from J. Crew’s Fall Collection. J. Crew has never shied away from color. Or patterns. And here is another season of the perfect storm for both.
Those green pants on the far right are absolutely gorgeous, and that signature style just happens to actually fit me well.
Same rich color, different luscious fabric. I should probably start saving right away!
And just for fun…. can you imagine your best guy wearing this? Not that I don’t love all these pieces, because I absolutely do. And if you watch “It’s a Brad, Brad World” on Bravo TV, you would know that red pants for men are HUGE right now! Very few men however, can (or would actually want to) pull this off. According to Brad, you can put a pop of color anywhere…. like bright red socks under your grey pinstripe banker’s suit.
