Picnic in the Park

We are very fortunate to have multiple venues, which hold free concerts all summer long.

We made our first appearance at the season opener of Stinson Park’s summer concert series this past weekend in the beautiful Aksarben Village.

And we are anticipating the beginning of Jazz on the Green on it’s new-ish home green at Midtown Crossing.

With those events dotting our summer calendar, we have ample opportunity to stock up on all our outdoor dining accessories.  Some we’ve already procured… some are on our wish list.

While we have a great picnic basket with generous space for wine, treats and dinnerware, you may be on the lookout for one yourself.  Why not this one that also doubles as a handy cooler?

While just about anything will do for a picnic blanket, our cotton sheet that needed to be washed up upon our arrival home left me wishing we had this large, zip-up blanket, which you can conveniently wipe up when you are done using it.

One thing we did miss this time around were these cool wine stakes to hold our full wine glasses when nature (or busy children) beckoned.

And if you attend these gatherings with babies, who are just learning to crawl, like we did, you may want to get your snacks up off the ground.  These portable tables also give you better leverage to cut, spread and serve up your scrumptious picnic snacks.

And if the ground is slightly wet or you have bad knees, and you’d prefer to get your back side up off the ground, these cute (and bright!) chairs are such and inexpensive way to enjoy summer concerts in the park on the cheap!

There are tons of other fun accessories you can add to your outdoor evening out.  Melamine trays, plastic stemware, 2-in-1 bottle/wine openers to name a few.  What are you go-to items for picnics in the park?

Jeweled Candles to light your way

I’m not typically a candle snob.  In fact, I usually get them for gifts.  And half the time, I forget to light them.

But that was before!  Before these jeweled candles from Primal Elements at Joss & Main crossed my path, which come in inspired scents like spun sugar, champagne and citrus, bergamot and chamomile teas, and rhubarb-quince tart.

While those do call to mind some scrumptious scents, I don’t care what they smell like.  (Did I already tell you I rarely light them?)  The fact that they look so incredibly adorable with their bedazzled selves is reason enough to stock up.

And pass them out as gifts too… for other people, who may or may not light their candles.

Daily Covet: Lawton Console Table

Around the time I started littleblacksweats.com, one of my covets was this cool, narrow bookshelf on casters.  It had black iron accents and I pictured it behind my couch, piled with books, photos, fresh flowers and any other homeless trinkets that needed a place to rest.  I’d never seen anything like it… until now.

Look at this fabulous Lawton Console Table from Barclay Butera Lifestyle on Joss & Main today.  My living room is screaming for this cool piece of furniture… and so are my homeless trinkets!

Channeling Chanel

Coco Chanel, one of the world’s most famous designers and innovators of women’s fashion, is the subject of a collection put together by Joss & Main.  Fabrics and furniture in signature black and white, as well as coffee table books on the design house’s founder and ads featuring her signature Chanel No. 5 perfume, are all part of this inspirational collection.

The quickest way to redecorate – throw pillows!

I found these pillows this morning.  And upon titling this post, I remember one of the blogs I read making the same statement.

But it’s true!

Changing the pillows can give your decor a whole new look, which makes the bold statement that the next season is approaching.

And since I’m also trying to get around to remodeling my sunroom, I’m looking at colors that will compliment my soon-to-be slipcovered sofa!

Nena Von, JossandMain.com $32.95 – $72.95

Daily Covet: Chests and Tables and Rugs, Oh My!

Joss & Main did this fabulous color story inspired by the hues of Mardi Gras, which by the way, is just days away!

And there are some fantastic pieces, especially for a girl that could use some shades of straw, yellow and gold in her living room.

Here are my top three covet-worthy pieces:

Hooker Sanctuary Chest, jossandmain.com $580

Henzler Lamp Table, jossandmain.com $200

Sphinx Ventura 8' x 10' Rug, jossandmain.com $470
