Daily Covet: AG Skinny Straight Jeans

What this girl wouldn’t give to wear jeans without a big, elastic panel!

Designer denim.  I’m jonesing for new jeans so bad.  And this awesome pair of AG Premiere Five-Year skinny straight jeans are just the pair.

I love buying denim.  And this is the time of year to buy… all the skimmer and cropped styles come out.  And they just happen to fit little old me like full-length jeans.

Alas, five plus months of pregnancy have me furiously searching for “not ugly” fabrics and “not old lady” styles.  And what’s more unfussy and classic than denim?

I’ll need to revisit this post when I’m ready to start taking off the baby weight.  Maybe it’ll be just the motivation I need to get back into hot jeans by fall!

The perfect white jean

White jeans and pants can be hard to wear.  This morning, I tried on the most fabulous white capri jeans on a whim.  I already have some cute, white jeans and decided I didn’t need another pair, but these are truly perfect… why?  So glad you asked!

Fabric.  You want the fabric to be light enough for spring/summer wear, but heavy enough that you don’t see every  little freckle (or dimple, in my case!) on your backside.  These Mossimo jeans are just the perfect weight.

Sizing.  I always suggest going up a size when it comes to white pants.  These run true to size, and don’t seem to warrant a jump.  That, in and of itself is a major win, right?  They also have a nice rise for those of us, who are out of the low rise phase of our lives…

Stretch.  And for those days when your true size isn’t quite your true size, there is a nice bit of stretch that will give you a little extra room after a second helping of chocolate cake.  The stretch helps these cute jeans keep their shape too.

Price.  They are $24.99.  Hey, I’m all for designer jeans.  I will usually spend a pretty penny on nice jeans that are a staple in this mom’s wardrobe.  However, white jeans don’t have a very long season here in the midwest, and for that reason alone, these are a much smarter buy.

The bonus.  They fit like designer jeans.

So there you have it.

The downside?  They are sold out online.  Pick them up in your local Target store though, and I assure you, you will fall madly in love with them instantly!

Daily Covet: Tops, tops and more tops

A lack of tops in my closet make it impossible to get dressed some days.

It’s so much easier to pick my favorite pair of jeans or flowy linen pants than it is to find a topper.

So this morning I found a gaggle of blouses and tops at LOFT.com that are budget-friendly enough to stock up.

Mad Men Countdown – 13 days

There’s nothing I like better than a sharp-dressed man.  And if he’s not in his favorite jeans and white t-shirt, then I prefer him in an impeccably tailored suit, crisp white shirt and the perfect tie.

Enter Don Draper.

Followed by Roger Sterling.

Daily Covet: Pants with Pizzazz

AG Adriano Goldschmied navy ankle legging sequin pants, http://www.agjeans.com $225

When I was shopping for my Christmas party outfit several weeks ago, I tried on the most fabulous pants.  Too fabulous for my Midwestern town – a town that thinks khakis are dress pants – but fabulous nonetheless.  (I love you anyway, town!)

They were so fun to wear while parading around on tip-toes (simulating heels), in the dressing room.  And with a navy silk flowy tunic, they were nothing short of monochromatic perfection… that is, for someone who’s big night out doesn’t consist of two young children and serious sorting of sugar packets at the local neighborhood “pub food” place.  I mean I love Goldberg’s, but I won’t be wearing sparkle pants there anytime soon.

And what’s better?  They are made with lots of stretch by AG Adriano Goldschmied, a very wearable designer label for those of us, who have had children.  They called them leggings, but they are very 5-pocket-jean-looking leggings, if you ask me.

No matter, try them on for yourself and make plans.  Big plans!
