I’m ready. My wardrobe is in limbo. I wear a ton of linen, and it’s much too late (early?) to be wearing linen. I have wool trousers, my favorite denim shirt and a velvet hacking jacket just screaming my name.
So, it’s no wonder that I am falling in love with this trés adorable dress from Athleta. The material is presumably comfy and cozy. The off-center and exposed zipper is trés chic. And the draped collar/hood is trés unique. That means I am wanting it trés beaucoup!
What can I say? I’m in a dress-loving daze!
Wear it with leggings, knee high boots or tights… I’m not picky, I just want to wear it!
My husband and I are going to Vail in September. His cousin is getting married, and it’ll most likely feel pretty fall-ish up there in the mountains.
That means I’ll want to be thinking fall colors, and what better color than this “leaves turning red” red dress?
From the front, this Sachin + Babi dress is classic and elegant with plenty of ruching and a simple cut. The back features an exposed zipper in bold black, which always adds a touch of modern, if you ask me.
If it turns out to be downright cold, I can throw a classic, black satin trench over it. If it’s warm, the sleeveless style will be perfect.
You can look put together, fashion forward and a little classic all at the same time. And what’s better, your feet won’t hurt after a long day of museum hopping, running errands or lunching with the ladies.
Add a straw bag or a nylon cross-body bag, and your look is complete!
One morning I met a mom and her children at the same preschool my son attends. She had done some guest posts for a Mother’s Social Networking site that I write for regularly. We hit it off instantly, and I ran home to send her a link to something via Facebook. She saw the udpates I made to Littleblacksweats.com and immediately put me on the hunt for a sophisticated dress she could wear to a wedding back East.
It took me all of five seconds to conjure up the perfect dress (I had actually tried it on in Chicago that fall.) She ordered it and loved how it fit.
Mission accomplished. And how classic, elegant and demurely sexy is this little number?
A creamy white lace shift is the perfect way to celebrate an anniversary, if you ask me. It calls to mind the cream-colored Sophia dress I wore for my wedding on the beach 8 years ago, but it’s much more manageable in length.
And a lace shift is much more likely to be worn again sometime soon too.
If you’ve read this blog once, you’ll know that I adore the shift shape (anything to make these short legs look longer!) And I’m pretty fond of cotton lace too. So it’s only natural that I’d be coveting this dress for a special night out with my best guy!
One of my favorite blogs, www.whatwelikenyc.com, posted this little fashion tidbit about Tucker, the cool little brand that could. Upon further review, I have to say that I agree.
Especially when it comes to this adorable asymmetrical dress in watercolored silk. And while I’m a dress girl, the rest of the collection is flowy, easy and colorful too. If this designer is not on your radar yet, check her out. You won’t be disappointed!
