Daily Covet: A Wild Flamingo

It’s still pretty warm here in middle America. But sometimes at night, there’s a hint of that crisp fall air that I look forward to every year.

It’s not necessarily because I love cold so much, but it absolutely IS because I love cold-weather clothes so, so, so much. The only thing I like better than cold-weather clothing is pink. PINK.

This cover of the most recent catalog had me immediately falling in deep love with this gorgeous pantsuit. I’ve been dreaming about where and how to wear it since I first laid eyes on it.

Blue gingham button downs, forest green silk blouses and maybe even plain white tees are the perfect pairings with a statement suit like this one!

Daily Covet: Modern Tartan Jacket

Plaid.  It reminds me of Catholic schoolgirl uniforms and Scottish kilts.

But here, a cute tartan jacket with an origami shape is super modern.  These tartan jackets are the granddaughters of the wool windowpane blazers of the 90’s.  Thankfully they are lighter, more flattering and frankly, far more chic than their predecessors.

I love them paired with skinny jeans and pumps like Nordstrom shows it here.  But it would be a great holiday outfit with black satin pants.  Or schoolgirl meets biker chick with a fitted leather skirt — leather is all the rage this fall!

It’s also on the very affordable end of the spectrum too… always a bonus!

Back to School

I’m sending my first born to school in 6 days.
He’s excited.  I get knots in my stomach just thinking about it.
He’s ready, but I can’t believe he’s going to be gone all day, every day.  He’s been with me for almost 6 years… my buddy. my associate.  my Tomas the Train enthusiast.  my personal shopper.  my lunch date. my baby.
So, in honor of my little guy’s first day of school, I’ve put together a fun collection of “Back to School” items that any girl could show off — in class or otherwise!

Daily Covet: Navy and White Striped Blazer

Looking Parisian-chic in stripes should be a cinch this season.  Anything and everything you could ever want can be found in stripes.  And this adorable blazer is no exception.  It has a great fit, it’s a great weight for spring and summer, and it looks great with every color under the sun.

My Banana Republic happens to be next door to Ann Taylor, where there is also an adorable red knit dress that I would love to wear with it for going out or a day at the office.  But throw it on with jeans and a bright yellow tee, and you have a cute “around town” outfit.   Or choose kelly green boyfriend chinos and a denim shirt for a business casual Friday and shopping with your best girls.  The possibilities are endless!  (See Polyvore.com for where to buy.)

One jacket, three ways!
