Is it too early to think about Christmas Wish Lists? Judging by the fact that all the department stores have been decked out since the day after Halloween, I’d say wish (or perhaps shop) away!
Clearly, this list is for the mostly casual girl that likes a little sparkle and a nice, red lip from time to time. Hmmm, I wonder who I was channeling when I put this together.
Take a look at some of these can’t fail items, if you need inspiration for your own list (I’m sorry, I do not comprehend this concept) or if you are shopping for some special chick(s) this year. (Shop them on my Polyvore page.)
Anything I’m missing? What’s at the top of your list? Let me know in the comments below!
I tend to be somewhat of a denim collector. I love classic styles as much as the newest silhouette in denim every season. Some of my jeans are of the expensive designer persuasion and others are cheap and trendy, “throwaway fashion” versions from Target. Truth be told however, I double heart love Target jeans too!
But today, I am not coveting inexpensive knockoffs. I am all in for these AG Jodi “leatherette” jeans. They aren’t leather, they aren’t quite faux leather but they do have that sortof appearance from afar. I would guess they are most similar to the “coated” jeans of yesteryear.
They do have that biker chick shine like leather, which can either be dressed up with strappy sandals or down with your favorite sneaks. Myself, I would most likely pair them with cozy blanket coats and some cool menswear-inspired Derbys.
The best part about leatherette though…. no specialty leather cleaning necessary. Wash on cold, baby. Super high style and super low maintenance. What’s better than that?
I love dresses in the summer. I have all three kids home with me most days and we are constantly on the run, so dresses have become my go-anywhere-and-everywhere staple. Plus they always fit. A perk for someone who seems to gain and lose the same five pounds in as little as a week.
Most of my play dresses are cotton and inexpensive. Some are only used for coverups for the pool, and others I wear out and about.
That’s why this Jethro twist-back tank dress caught my eye. It comes in multiple colors, but true to form white, navy and black are my favorites. They are loose-fitting and cool and also have a deconstructed design that makes them casual and comfortable, yet they are still plenty chic.
Pair them with a long necklace and flatform sandals for brunch or an evening out. Or slip into your favorite summer flip-flops and floppy hat to head to the pool. There’s no place this little number won’t go!
This time of year, I am D-runk on all things sequined.
I would wear it head to toe if I was more into bedazzling during the rest of the year.
But this super adorable jacket from Paper Crown is so subtle in ivory that I could wear it with literally anything and I’m not just saying that. In fact, I might even go so far as to wear it with a black sequined mini I already own… sortof like a suit!
But more likely, I’d pair it with boyfriend jeans and satin pumps or leather shorts and a silk cami for girls’ night out.
It’s only early March, but I’m already thinking about the summer I’m going to spend by the pool with my three boys.
Why would I subject myself to this before spring even hits? Why would I subject myself to this at all?
You see, I’m on a major quest to look somewhat decent fabulous in a new suit. And the new bathing suit is my motivator. I’ve promised myself a sleek new bathing suit, if I can reach my goals by the time pool days roll around again.
Oddly, searching out the best option to reward myself with has also been a huge motivator. It gives me a visual every day when I am scouring the Internet for the perfect suit.
So far, these two suits from Huit have been my faves. No surprise they are both blue too.
The tops are very structured, which I need because this mom of three boys rarely gets to just sit and lounge by a pool. Instead I’m getting in and out of the “deep end” and reapplying sunscreen and digging for snacks and whatever else my brood needs during the day.
So while the strapless versions of these suits are really adorable, you can bet I’ll not be removing the removable straps. Between the two (here and here), I prefer the boy shorts. In the past, this hasn’t been the best style for me because of my pair shape and short legs. While I can’t do anything about my short legs, I am hoping to eat, sweat and lift my way to smaller hips so that I can finally wear boy shorts with confidence.
We’ve got approximately three weeks until summer rolls around and I’m just one week into my 12-week plan to build more lean muscle and shed some baby-induced (ok everything-induced) pudge.
