Daily Covet: H&M Striped Dress

Happy Friday bloggy friends!

I’m running late today… well, maybe this entire week.

But never fear, I’m back with my next daily covet. No surprise, it’s from one of my absolute favorite destinations for shopping – H&M!

This adorable blue and white striped frock is my newest obsession. The pleating provides some wonderful waist cinching and the cute, short shape is ideal for my short shape!

I’d love to pair this cute dress with hot pink satin bow flats or neutral sandals for my Easter dress. But who are we kidding? This could just as well be worn for date night with some peep-toe pumps or strappy sandals and a sleek clutch.

The possibilities are positively endless!

Daily Covet: Louis Vuitton Chantilly GM

I have this renewed appreciation for the cross-body bag. I used to be more of a big bag girl – mostly because I can still carry a fabulous handbag to camouflage diapers, wipes, sippy cups and snacks.

My trip to New York a couple of weeks ago had me digging out my old Coach Station Bag – which I adore. But the bag is that soft and luxurious leather that Coach is famous for – in black. And since I turned over a new leaf and packed lighter than ever before for the weekend – my black Coach bag perfectly matched (read got lost in) all my black clothing.

That’s why I’ve decided that I need a bag that is equally as convenient and equally as timeless as my Station Bag. And while it shouldn’t be equally as black as my other bag, this Louis Vuitton Chantilly GM crossbody sadly won’t be as equally well-priced either.

It does, however, fit into my two-year-old motto, “Buy less. But buy better.” And it has that cool, new-ish peek-a-boo red trim on the strap. Love.

Daily Covet: Camel Coat

Camel coats seem to be everywhere this fall, but the fact is: a fabulous camel coat has always been a fashionista’s cold-weather staple.

Sadly, this fashionista has never – not once – owned a camel coat!

So, I’m on the hunt for something lovely in one of the rare neutral browns I might look good in. This Max Mara Ragni coat is one that I absolutely love. I adore the funnel neck and the oversized fit. I’m also crazy for the not-quite-full-length sleeves and the car-coat length that won’t get in your way when you’re doing all the things we girls need to do when we’re not shopping!

It might be a bit pricey, but since I’d wear it for the rest of my life – maybe it’s worth the splurge?

Daily Covet: Chloe Drew Calf Hair Shoulder Bag

I’ve always been a fan of CHLOÉ handbags (who isn’t?) but have only had the pleasure of admiring them from afar. In this case, I’m getting up close and personal – but only virtually.

The truth is, anything in leopard-print calf hair goes straight to the top of my “If I only had this” list!

And this little CHLOÉ bag with a big price tag is there… maybe twice, I love it so much!

From cargo pants to a little black dress, this could be one of the most versatile bags around. At that price, it’d better be!

Daily Covet: The Shoe Book

“Another shoe book, really?” you might be thinking.

Not another shoe book…

THE Shoe Book.

This book is one of the most fabulous gifts you can get that is actually affordable from the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. The Shoe Book “explores the history and technologies that have shaped the designs and styles that continue to evolve.”

And the best part? The contributors include Manolo Blahnik, Bruno Fissoni, Christian Louboutin and Sarah Jessica Parker. It’s like the Beatles of the shoe world!

And the hardback cover is pretty darn cute too!

Three trends I wish would die

The two things you can count on when it comes to fashion – it comes and it goes. Sadly, some trends don’t end soon enough. If you would’ve told me in elementary school that someday I’d be wearing wide leg jeans (and now yummy flares!) I wouldn’t have believed you. But I absolutely embraced the denim awesomeness that wide legs are – especially for this girl with some bass, if you know what I mean.

But there are three trends I can’t get my head around. In fact, I actually DE-TEST them and wish they would die sooner (read NOW!) than later.

One of the trends I hate the most? White plastic sunglasses on dudes. I mean, I’m not super into white sunglasses on anyone, but on men especially. I can’t pinpoint why, but they remind me of some guys that went to my high school in the 90’s. They drove equally-white, plastic Camaros and hung out in our school parking lot – hence the clever name we gave them, “Parking Lot People.” They wore Z Cavariccis, shiney shirts and too much gel. See for yourself. Am I right?

Why did so many people not get the “less is more” memo? Dark jeans? Yes. Sequins? Yes. Visible stitching? Sometimes.

All three at once? Never.

Bedazzled nightmares like this scream rodeo. I’ve seen pageant dresses with less bling than this. Why won’t these jeans go away? And why oh why do so many middle-aged men wear them? I promise this is not a fashion statement you will look back on fondly.

Since we’re on the subject of jeans, how about these jeans that Kim Kardashian likes to wear… everywhere according to a recent google image search. I get the deconstructed look. In fact, I have a pair of jeans with a few, little strategically placed holes that I like to wear with a gold, sequined sweater to dress it down. But what’s the point of these jeans… er shorts? Why not just wear shorts – you can find them virtually anywhere!
