Daily Covet: AG Jodi Leatherette Jeans

I tend to be somewhat of a denim collector. I love classic styles as much as the newest silhouette in denim every season. Some of my jeans are of the expensive designer persuasion and others are cheap and trendy, “throwaway fashion” versions from Target. Truth be told however, I double heart love Target jeans too!

But today, I am not coveting inexpensive knockoffs. I am all in for these AG Jodi “leatherette” jeans. They aren’t leather, they aren’t quite faux leather but they do have that sortof appearance from afar. I would guess they are most similar to the “coated” jeans of yesteryear.

They do have that biker chick shine like leather, which can either be dressed up with strappy sandals or down with your favorite sneaks. Myself, I would most likely pair them with cozy blanket coats and some cool menswear-inspired Derbys.

The best part about leatherette though…. no specialty leather cleaning necessary. Wash on cold, baby. Super high style and super low maintenance. What’s better than that?

Summer Dress-ing

I love dresses in the summer. I have all three kids home with me most days and we are constantly on the run, so dresses have become my go-anywhere-and-everywhere staple. Plus they always fit. A perk for someone who seems to gain and lose the same five pounds in as little as a week.

Most of my play dresses are cotton and inexpensive. Some are only used for coverups for the pool, and others I wear out and about.

That’s why this Jethro twist-back tank dress caught my eye. It comes in multiple colors, but true to form white, navy and black are my favorites. They are loose-fitting and cool and also have a deconstructed design that makes them casual and comfortable, yet they are still plenty chic.

Pair them with a long necklace and flatform sandals for brunch or an evening out. Or slip into your favorite summer flip-flops and floppy hat to head to the pool. There’s no place this little number won’t go!

Marc Cain Pumps

I stopped into, She.la, a high-end boutique that a friend of mine works for here in the Midwest. She has impressed her love of a line called Marc Cain upon me over the last year, and we had a chance to peruse the fall lookbook this afternoon.

There were the most amazing pair of kilty loafers in bright turquoise blue. If you’ve read this blog ever in your life, you’ll know that I absolutely adore all things turquoise – so much so that almost every room in my house is turning a shade of that color. (More on my ever-changing blue rooms to come later.)

So for a brief moment, I wished for fall and these beautiful loafers (more moments for the shoes than for fall) that would be a great high-low addition to kick cropped jeans or the perfect pairing for pencil skirts. And how gorgeous as a pop against black capris and a black turtleneck? They also come in a pale pink and an oxblood color too.

Sadly, I could only find the photo for my daily covet in an online look book as they aren’t out yet. But you get the idea, right?

Daily Covet: Loeffler Randall Wedge Oxfords

It started out as a search for the flatform Stella McCartney brogues, which led me to some equally cute white suede Prada ones with green accents on the soles, which then led me to these to-die-for Loeffler Randall wedge oxfords. I’m absolutely head over heels – no pun – for these cute, little mirrors for your feet!

My destroyed jeans, a flippy skirt and a T. Wang athleisure mini dress would be topped off perfectly with these kicks. And pretty much anything else I own – save my yoga pants… although, with the right tunic sweater….. I’ll stop while I’m ahead.

Feast your eyes on these beauties!

Daily Covet: Totemania

I realize my last post was also about a certain black tote. But if you remember, my current fabulous tote is on it’s way to being un-fabulous due to worn out straps that will break at the sheer mention of putting my laptop in it.

So my search has turned to frenzy and I’ve already notified my dear husband that the next gift-giving opportunity should include one of many of the great totes I’ve laid eyes on lately.

Here’s my current list in addition to that nylon HUNTER one that I blogged about the other day:

Kate Spade Austin Varrick Street Suede, katespade.com

You can’t go wrong with Kate. She makes some pretty damn good bags. I should know, I have quite a few. I love this bag with the winged look that you can find on so many other bags, but at a fraction of the price. My only complaint is that it might be a bit dressy for my needs. I’m looking for the SAHM-everyday tote that won’t be seeing the inside of an office anytime in the near future.

Zac by Zac Posen, Saksoff5th.com

This Zac Posen number is probably my favorite. It has a sophisticated vibe without being too dressy. It’s simple and roomy and the leather looks like it would feel like butter!

Jason Wu Christy Leather Shopper, lastcall.com

I should give the disclaimer that this Jason Wu beauty is my actual favorite but at over $1K a pop, it’s just not a practical choice. I’d be too scared to let a snack near it!

Neiman Marcus Greco Two Tone, lastcall.com

I’m a big fan of the two-tone detailing for obvious practical reasons and I love the long strap option, which I don’t have now and occasionally wish I did. A very good choice at a very good price.

Cole Haan Mila Leather Tote, nordstromrack.com

You gotta love patent leather. It just makes a nice, black bag all the nicer. I love the gold hardware and the roomy handles. It looks sturdy too with plenty of room for my whole life that I lug around with me each day.

Daily Covet: Anthropologie Starlight Sequin Jacket

This time of year, I am D-runk on all things sequined.

I would wear it head to toe if I was more into bedazzling during the rest of the year.

But this super adorable jacket from Paper Crown is so subtle in ivory that I could wear it with literally anything and I’m not just saying that. In fact, I might even go so far as to wear it with a black sequined mini I already own… sortof like a suit!

But more likely, I’d pair it with boyfriend jeans and satin pumps or leather shorts and a silk cami for girls’ night out.

Daily Covet: Beach Bag Bingo

On this most dreadful of days, it seems only fitting that I’d be searching for lovely weather essentials for the pool, the lake or the beach. Here’s a roundup of a Bingo’s game worth of cool beach bags I’d love to carry everything I own sunscreen, pool toys, floaties, magazines and snacks in.

How about these cute Billabong bags… how do you choose just one?!

Billabong Essential Bag, SwimOutlet.com $24.95

These Scout bags are some of my absolute favorites. The adorable pattern options and coordinating accessories are but two of the reasons. The other is the fact that the coated canvas make them ideal for seafaring (pool or lakefaring too) days!

If you’re tired of losing small items at the bottom of your beach bag, this LeSportsac Clear Haven Tote is for you. The clear fabric means you can see everything in your bag at one time!

Here’s a good Independence Day option for those of us stateside. Tory Burch’s red, white and blue canvas tote is perfect for celebrating with a poolside barbeque and some festive fireworks.

What screams summer sophistication more than Target’s oversized tote with a gold-toned handle? I’m loving this bag for more than just the beach, that’s for sure… and it’s inexpensive – a definite bonus!

Well, that’s a wrap, as they say! Too all my American readers, Happy 4th of July. Enjoy your celebrations and stay safe!

And for my foreign friends, bon weekend! (Sorry that’s the only one I know with any certainty.)
