Daily Covet: Birkenstock Gizeh

I know it’s so not original to be back into Birkenstocks these days. Style blog after style blog is telling you how to reinvent your Birkenstocks because why not wear these comfortable and newly styled sandals with literally everything?

I had several pairs of Birkenstocks, both obtained in the late 80’s when they made their post-hippy re-emergence. I held onto them long after I ever considered wearing them. And finally took them to the Goodwill long after the leather had hardened and the soles had broken down.

I was certain that this was a bandwagon I was not going to jump back on. But then the old-school “Arizona” and the more flip-flop-like “Gizeh” started showing up everywhere. And in the best colors and textures.

To say I have a mini obsession with this Metallic Copper pair with the Soft footbed is a understatement. I mean, how tan could my feet look in these adorable sandals after all? And more importantly, what color polish should I get at my next pedicure? “Mirrored” is hard to accessorize!

On a more serious note however, since the U.S. loser-in-chief  doesn’t see it necessary to look after our environment, it’s nice to know that companies like Birkenstock have been using more environmentally friendly materials and pioneering ways to reduce energy consumption since the 80’s. What better reason to wear Birkenstocks is there?

What a girl wants

Is it too early to think about Christmas Wish Lists? Judging by the fact that all the department stores have been decked out since the day after Halloween, I’d say wish (or perhaps shop) away!

Clearly, this list is for the mostly casual girl that likes a little sparkle and a nice, red lip from time to time. Hmmm, I wonder who I was channeling when I put this together.

Take a look at some of these can’t fail items, if you need inspiration for your own list  (I’m sorry, I do not comprehend this concept) or if you are shopping for some special chick(s) this year. (Shop them on my Polyvore page.)

Anything I’m missing? What’s at the top of your list? Let me know in the comments below!

Marc Cain Pumps

I stopped into, She.la, a high-end boutique that a friend of mine works for here in the Midwest. She has impressed her love of a line called Marc Cain upon me over the last year, and we had a chance to peruse the fall lookbook this afternoon.

There were the most amazing pair of kilty loafers in bright turquoise blue. If you’ve read this blog ever in your life, you’ll know that I absolutely adore all things turquoise – so much so that almost every room in my house is turning a shade of that color. (More on my ever-changing blue rooms to come later.)

So for a brief moment, I wished for fall and these beautiful loafers (more moments for the shoes than for fall) that would be a great high-low addition to kick cropped jeans or the perfect pairing for pencil skirts. And how gorgeous as a pop against black capris and a black turtleneck? They also come in a pale pink and an oxblood color too.

Sadly, I could only find the photo for my daily covet in an online look book as they aren’t out yet. But you get the idea, right?

Daily Covet: Loeffler Randall Wedge Oxfords

It started out as a search for the flatform Stella McCartney brogues, which led me to some equally cute white suede Prada ones with green accents on the soles, which then led me to these to-die-for Loeffler Randall wedge oxfords. I’m absolutely head over heels – no pun – for these cute, little mirrors for your feet!

My destroyed jeans, a flippy skirt and a T. Wang athleisure mini dress would be topped off perfectly with these kicks. And pretty much anything else I own – save my yoga pants… although, with the right tunic sweater….. I’ll stop while I’m ahead.

Feast your eyes on these beauties!

Daily Covet: Blue Suede Boots

We are enjoying an extended summer here in the Midwest, which seems extra strange since my kids have been in school for almost four weeks already!

But the fall catalogs are rolling in, and I have spent much time poring over the beautiful pages of fashion’s “what is to come.” One of my favorites – and not only for the clothing – is the Anthropologie catalog. This time the images included models on the streets (and the rooftops!) of Paris. What could be better?

Well, I’ll tell you. Amazing blue, suede boots!! (I know, I can’t but help to sing it too.)

These blue over-the-knee boots from Lien.Do Toro are just the right amount of sexy, which can be toned down by wearing them with a printed, flowy midi dress and turned way up by pairing them with a daring mini and second-skin turtleneck.

Regardless of what I’d pair them with, I just love dark blue shoes to boot!

Daily Covet: Summer shoes for all occasions

Hey bloggy friends!

School’s been out for us for weeks now, but Summer has yet to officially begin. So in anticipation of more sun and less rain, I’m looking for some fab chaussures to grace my feet. Here are a few of my favorite styles for every occasion:

I love the juxtaposition of the glitter and the butter soft, casual style of these flatforms from H&M’s premium shoe collection. Jeans, shorts, sundresses and more would be the perfect pairing for these sandals with a lift!

Or how about these sexy, little metallic numbers? I love all the straps that still leave your pedi in full view!

Got lots of sightseeing to do on your summer vacation? Make sure your sneakers are as comfy as possible. New Balance has made a major comeback in the past few years and the color combinations mean they’ll go with just about anything!

Want your sneaker to be a little less “sport” and a little more “sleek?” Check out these slip-ons from No. 21. The rubber platform sole means extra comfort, and the glitter-finished canvas upper means extra va-voom!

There’s nothing plain about these black, heeled sandals from Stuart Weitzman. The heel is high enough to make your legs look great, but low enough to dance the night away. The simple strap across the front elongates your leg while the ankle strap keeps them secure.

Need something with a little more color? There’s no better way to show off a summer tan than these pumpkin-colored sandals with the wide ankle strap. And they’ll take you right into fall too!

Let’s not forget, summer is high time for sand, surf or a crystal blue pool. These hot pink PVC sandals from Tory Burch (reminiscent of the “jelly” version you wore as a kid) are waterproof as well as totally adorable. And let’s face it… they’ll take your black bikini up a notch.

Can’t get to the beach this summer? Slip into Havaianas that won’t let you down. Wear these palm-tree printed flip flops on the pool deck to channel your inner surfer girl.
