Daily Covet: Crochet Floral Shell Top

If there’s one thing that will be everywhere this summer, it’s crochet.

Crocheted bikinis, cover ups, shorts and tops are out in full swing.

And this adorable TOPSHOP crocheted shell is ideal for wear with jeans, shorts and skirts alike.

The fit is a little swing-like and the bottom hemline is “scalloped” along the natural lace line. I suppose if you’re tall enough, which I am not, you’d even be able to show a little bit of tummy – just enough to be sexy without being trashy.

Daily Covet: 3.1 Phillip Lim Collection

Years ago, I stopped in to this little boutique while on a girls’ trip. I ran across the most gorgeous fuchsia 3.1 Phillip Lim dress with hand-beaded crystal trim around the collar.

That was the day I fell in love with Phillip Lim.

So here I am today perusing old Phil’s totally gorge spring collection and feeling overwhelmed at the thought of choosing just one piece (or even one outfit) for the “Daily Covet.”

I mean, look at this amazing lineup of just a few of my absolute objets de désir!

Daily Covet: Prabal Gurung Bow Front Top

To say my tastes in fashion are eclectic is an understatement. Schizophrenic might be a better term.

If you don’t believe me, take a gander at my last post about boyfriend jeans.

But not a lot of choices could be less boy and more girly-girl than this ice blue bow front top from Prabal Gurung (a fave for sure!) It showed up in a Harper’s Bazaar article about boob-minimizing tops – their words, not mine. While I would like a little minimizing from time to time, it’s the asymmetry and pseudo-ruching that I love. The peplum with skinny black pants or a pencil skirt would be gorge on just about any body type.

And Prabal Gurung is just one in a long list of designers you’ll be seeing ice blue from this fall/winter. Doesn’t hurt that blue happens to be one of my most favorite colors. I love all shades – navy to the palest shade of blue, so it’s no wonder this top jumped off the page at me.

Now, how to finance it… hmmm.

Daily Covet: Isabel Marant Largo Crocheted Top

Ahhh Isabel Marant… edgy, sophisticated, feminine, tough and oh so cool.

I am IN LOVE with this Largo Crocheted Top – isn’t it gorge?! I’ve always been a major fan of heavy cotton lace and this top is tops in my book.

Ways to style this Isabel Marant piece are absolutely endless… white jeans, a ball skirt, leather, even cotton shorts.

This would be a total must have… if I were not the mother of three little leeches, who eat up my clothing budget with the quickness.

My paying gig: What I wore

I’ve been so bad at this “what I wore” segment – usually because there is no one around to take my picture when I’m rushing out of the house to my next destination.Momaha mug

However, I did rustle up most of the items I’ve been wearing lately –  and a few “similar” items I’ve found online.

Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl XLVII:  Which will you wear?   Er… root for?

New Orleans will host this year’s Super Bowl.  My family and I will spend our time watching at some friends’ house.  And by “watching,” I mean “eating” our way through four quarters of football.

I do love football, but I have to say I’m more excited about the party and wearing team colors!

I was raised on the San Francisco 49’ers and my husband and I lived in the Bay Area for five years… so it’s only natural that we would be rooting for maroon and gold.

On the flip side, I adore the Ravens colors and have far more in my wardrobe to cheer them on.  Is that reason enough to change teams?

Neh.
