I just looked back at the time stamp on my last post and realized I’m failing miserably at maintaining this blog. I sortof wish I could say I have got my covet-ing in check, but that wouldn’t be true. I still spend a lot of time “window shopping” online. That is to say, filling up my virtual carts and leaving them to sit un-checked out.
But this time of year, I’m taking special note because I have several people who ask for lists or just a few things that I may have my eye on for Christmas. And so, to make their lives easier and also to get a much-needed post on the books for the end of the year, a few of my favorite things is here!
“A few of my favorite things” is generally what I title this post each year, but it is also the song lyric from one of my favorite movies, “Sound of Music.” The movie also reminds me of the holidays because it used to be shown on public TV the night of Christmas. My family would cuddle up at my grandparents’ house after the dinner had been eaten and the packages had been opened.
Anywho, let’s get to it. From creamy tunic sweaters to spency designer watches and key fobs that will also charge your phone, here are a handful of items I love this year.

Is it too early to think about Christmas Wish Lists? Judging by the fact that all the department stores have been decked out since the day after Halloween, I’d say wish (or perhaps shop) away!
Clearly, this list is for the mostly casual girl that likes a little sparkle and a nice, red lip from time to time. Hmmm, I wonder who I was channeling when I put this together.
Take a look at some of these can’t fail items, if you need inspiration for your own list (I’m sorry, I do not comprehend this concept) or if you are shopping for some special chick(s) this year. (Shop them on my Polyvore page.)
Anything I’m missing? What’s at the top of your list? Let me know in the comments below!
We are enjoying an extended summer here in the Midwest, which seems extra strange since my kids have been in school for almost four weeks already!
But the fall catalogs are rolling in, and I have spent much time poring over the beautiful pages of fashion’s “what is to come.” One of my favorites – and not only for the clothing – is the Anthropologie catalog. This time the images included models on the streets (and the rooftops!) of Paris. What could be better?
Well, I’ll tell you. Amazing blue, suede boots!! (I know, I can’t but help to sing it too.)
These blue over-the-knee boots from Lien.Do Toro are just the right amount of sexy, which can be toned down by wearing them with a printed, flowy midi dress and turned way up by pairing them with a daring mini and second-skin turtleneck.
Regardless of what I’d pair them with, I just love dark blue shoes to boot!
‘Tis the season bloggy friends for coveting. I know giving and all that is the good part, but after spending an amazing weekend in New York City with my best guy, there’s plenty of eye candy on my wish list.
Saturday morning had us heading uptown for brunch at Sarabeth’s. On the way, I stopped to oggle the Gucci holiday window and noticed these totally FAB silver boots. The retro-ness of them has me longing for another one of my favorite wardrobe staples – the shift dress.

Another one of my favorites from the weekend is this gorgeous eyelet moto jacket from Joe Fresh. What a way to turn denim and a tee into something special for somewhere special!

We also spent Sunday morning at the Christmas Market at Union Square. We picked out unique and some handmade gifts for family members. I also eyed a dainty band (similar shown) that I’d like to have someday when I’m not supposed to be Christmas shopping for others instead.

We also spent several hours at the Museum of Modern Art. The exhibit Henri Matisse The Cut-Outs was absolutely amazing. I am familiar with Matisse paintings, but not with his work near the end of his career and life. I loved this box of prints from his collection of vivid (and some very large) works.

I also found a six-story townhouse I wouldn’t mind having in the Murray Hill neighborhood of midtown Manhattan. But at almost $4 million, I’m pretty sure that won’t be under my tree this year.
Surprisingly, we didn’t do much shopping over the weekend. There was just too much to see and do, but I could probably post a handful of blogs filled with all this girl’s favorite things!
After dresses and coats, boots are by far my favorite item(s) to shop for.
Years ago, I bought some gorgeous black ankle boots that are almost identical, but had the square toe up top. I’ve never been able to part with them even though that toe is quite out of style…
However, this ultra cool pair of Rag and Bone Driscoll black boots are TO.DIE.FOR. They are sleek, but have a hint of “biker girl” to them. They are so similar to my old ones, but with an updated rounded toe and a cool ankle strap with stud closure.
If I were to drop almost $600 on a new pair of boots this fall, these would be the ones!
