Daily Covet: Pure City’s domino Bike

This adorable Pure City bike was specially designed in five cute colors – white is my fave! –  for domino magazine (my other fave!)

It’s not that I’m dying to get a bike all the time, but it is something I think would be so great to do with my kids.

Two of my sons are of bike-riding age and I’m all about a baby seat for my littlest peanut. What fun it would be to go on bike rides to the park. Or to the store to pick up a few things without having to fire up the engine on my gas-guzzling SUV. Oh yeah, and then there is that old exercise thing.

Why not this fabulous cruiser that’s so much a cuter version of the beach cruiser I had in high school? All I’d need is a big, floppy sun hut!

My paying gig: Maternity fashion for the modern mamma

So I haven’t made a formal announcement as far as littleblacksweats.com is concerned, but this post may tip you bloggy friends off to the obvious.

I am happy to report that my husband and I are expecting another baby boy this summer (our third!)  At the time this blog was published, I was just 13 weeks along, but am on the verge of hitting the 16-week mark on Friday – 4 months down, an eternity to go, it seems!

Maternity clothes are my new reality.  So what does a momma-to-be-again wear when warmer weather hits and pup tents are out of the question?  Ive put together some fun options for day-to-night, casual weekends, and beach or pool time.

Check them out here!

Daily Covet: TOMS made me eat my words

Ok, ok, I know, I know.  I’m not a TOMS fan.

As I mentioned, I love the TOMS mission.  Hate those little slipper-ish shoes.

However, I saw cute TOMS Burlap Bimini Stitchouts walking around this weekend while on vacation with my family.

I’m not 100% sure why I like these TOMS so much better, but it might be the more substantial soles and the cute red drawcord.  The TOMS looked cute on with short shorts and tees.

I can also picture them with boyfriend jeans and lightweight cardis for early fall.

TOMS, you made me eat my words!

Daily Covet: New England waterfront living

Summer is going fast.  My darling husband’s job is demanding, and not allowing for much of a summer vacation this year.

More than ever, our family could use a little R & R.  A little downtime.  A little un-plugging. (Join the crowd, I know!)

I keep daydreaming of a lonely seaside home.  A place where we could breath fresh sea air, sit under the stars and bury our feet in hot sand.  A place where we could ride bikes and lazily read in beach chairs.  A place where we could just be a family — without the hustle of activities, engagements, responsibilities.

This New England waterfront home looks like as good a place as any, right?

And since we are going to be on the beach, we’ll need great beach accessories!  How about these from OneKingsLane today?

Daily Covet: PB for back-to-school

Backpacks?  Lunchboxes?  Back to school?  Already?

No, but I want to be prepared.

I am sending my first born to kindergarten next month.  I’m already mentally preparing for the flood of tears that will pour forth from my eyes that day.  He’s been my baby.  My buddy.  My associate.  For almost six years.

And while I’d love to keep him at home, I know it’s time.  He’s too smart to be at home with me any more.  He’s ready for math and science and writing and reading.  And making new friends.  And playing on the playground.

With that said, I’m still going to be his mom.  And that means I want him to have great accessories (ones that have his initials on them, so we know they are his!)

And that means Pottery Barn backpacks and lunchboxes.  This skateboard-camo print isn’t exactly my favorite of the choices, but I figured skateboarding might stay “cool” longer than the really cute fish & shark print I got for my littlest.

These backpacks and lunchboxes are cute though, and you can choose from even cooler fonts and bright colors to personalize with their names or monogram.

While I may be hesitant to let him go, I know he’s sure to look adorable toting all his necessities to and from his big boy school this fall!

Daily Covet: Toms, maybe just for kiddos….

I’m not a TOMS fan.

I mean, the mission of TOMS is an admirable pursuit, which I am a fan of.  But not so much the slipper-type shoes for women.

However, TOMS adorable, pint-sized Classic Tiny Glitter Slip-ons have me doing an about face.

A little girl had TOMS glitter slip-ons in silver on this weekend.  She was wearing them with a Marimekko-style sundress and couldn’t have been cuter.

I’d get these TOMS glitter slip-ons in every, too-cute-for-words color, if I had a little girl!

Picnic in the Park

We are very fortunate to have multiple venues, which hold free concerts all summer long.

We made our first appearance at the season opener of Stinson Park’s summer concert series this past weekend in the beautiful Aksarben Village.

And we are anticipating the beginning of Jazz on the Green on it’s new-ish home green at Midtown Crossing.

With those events dotting our summer calendar, we have ample opportunity to stock up on all our outdoor dining accessories.  Some we’ve already procured… some are on our wish list.

While we have a great picnic basket with generous space for wine, treats and dinnerware, you may be on the lookout for one yourself.  Why not this one that also doubles as a handy cooler?

While just about anything will do for a picnic blanket, our cotton sheet that needed to be washed up upon our arrival home left me wishing we had this large, zip-up blanket, which you can conveniently wipe up when you are done using it.

One thing we did miss this time around were these cool wine stakes to hold our full wine glasses when nature (or busy children) beckoned.

And if you attend these gatherings with babies, who are just learning to crawl, like we did, you may want to get your snacks up off the ground.  These portable tables also give you better leverage to cut, spread and serve up your scrumptious picnic snacks.

And if the ground is slightly wet or you have bad knees, and you’d prefer to get your back side up off the ground, these cute (and bright!) chairs are such and inexpensive way to enjoy summer concerts in the park on the cheap!

There are tons of other fun accessories you can add to your outdoor evening out.  Melamine trays, plastic stemware, 2-in-1 bottle/wine openers to name a few.  What are you go-to items for picnics in the park?
