Daily Covet: How do you pick just one?

When my husband and I got married, it was 6 weeks in the planning, so we were really never engaged.  We decided to take a much need vacation, and he said, “Let’s just get married while we’re there!”  And so we did, on the beaches of Maui.

Needless to say, there was no engagement ring.  But he did buy me a beautiful wedding band with five-24pt diamonds across the top and I’ve worn and loved it for over 7 years.  However, I cannot control the fact that diamond retailers are tracking my every move and advertise pure beauty on most of the pages I visit, jewelry-related or otherwise.  And I like to look.

This brilliant diamond (round), flanked by a bazillion pavé diamonds, just happened to catch my eye. I’m sure you can understand why!

Daily Covet: Oh say can you se-quin?

Tory Burch sequins dress, toryburch.com $895

I know, I know, you’re probably saying, “Really?  Another dress?”  And yes, another dress.  It’s my blog after all.

But you know I love dresses and the reason why is because they usually fit me.  I live in skirts and dresses all summer long and will probably do the same for winter.  Now I realize this hot, little Tory Burch number is not everyday appropriate (unless you are a showgirl!), but it is something that would take you through the holidays and really through the rest of your life.  When haven’t sequins been in, right?

Let’s talk about the price tag.  I think Tory Burch might be a bit presumptuous by putting that stiff of a price tag on a dress that you can find anywhere else for about a quarter of the price, but alas she’s running a successful brand that I am “coveting.”  So what do I know?

There was a great alternative at Zara and it had a low back, but they seem to be out of stock and therefore, no longer on the site.  However, here are Michael Kors and Jessica Simpson versions for $150 or less!

Daily Covet: A Girl’s Best Friend

Everyone has a little black dress, right?  If you are me, then you have like 30, in an array of sizes from 4-12!  And that’s what I mean by “girl’s best friend,” but second in line would be this extravagant Vera Wang “diamond” necklace.

I absolutely cannot bring myself to buy one more dress, but what if I really, really need something fabulous?  This little number can change the look of anything.  And I love the inconsistency of stones and the “over the top” big ones that lend a sort of whimsy to the necklace.  Now – at $900 – I would not wear it enough to justify the price, but some people would… and others would find an amazing knockoff, i.e. me.

Either way, your LBD goes to KYSOLBD (knock your socks off little black dress)!

Mad Men Update

If you have ever read this blog more than once, you will probably have some idea that I am hooked, in love, addicted, and more to the “to die for” Mad Men series.  So when I ran across a picture of the cast (minus January Jones, who is probably off protecting the identity of her baby daddy) at a benefit, I just had to post.

Oh, and because, my heart throb Jon Slattery, looks uber-cool in shaded specs, jeans and bucks.  Mmmmm….

The latest: we all know that Mad Men is coming back.  But not until 2012.  And minus some beloved cast members, who haven’t been named as of yet.
