Daily Covet: Cork is for wine bottles

Some of you might remember that I have been searching furiously for a pair of black sandals to replace my once favorite sandals that walked a million miles with me.

Well, I thought I had found them and was so excited… then a little disappointed… then a lot disappointed… so much so, that I am sending them back.  I won’t go into a long list of details about the deterioration of what I thought was going to be the perfect pair of sandals but let’s just say, I’m surprised anyone would want to put their label on something so cheap and shotty!

Nine West "Saffia", Piperlime.com sale $69.99

As you can see, the culprits are awfully adorable and I wore them often for several weeks.  They were the perfect length for my longer jeans, flow-y linen pants (yep, finally got ’em!) and looked really cute with sundresses too.  But little by little, I started to peel back the layers – literally – so off they go to Piperlime.com‘s “Return Heaven.”

So after returning from a trip that sealed their fate, I have again tracked down a pair of black sandals with a wedge heel, ankle strap and small platform.  You wouldn’t think this such an incredibly difficult task.  However, try to find a pair of sandals these days that don’t include cork or raffia heels.

Go on, I dare you…

charles by Charles David "Tickler", Zappos.com $90

I have just checked tracking information and it seems these adorable little gems are “out for delivery” as I type this post.  Thanks to Zappos.com and a friend with a “preferred status”, they are arriving today.  I have always been a fan of Charles David shoes and have been wearing them for 20 years.  In fact, they were once “higher end” but I think the company sold out and now they are called “charles by Charles David.”  Not as swanky but the comfort factor remains, which is all I really care about.

So, cross your fingers and keep your eyes out for a follow-up of pure jubilation… or possibly utter disgust.  Let’s hope not.

Daily Covet: Who wears the pants?

For years, I have been searching for the perfect pair of pants.  I want some linen pants that are tailored at the top with non-seam side pockets, a button and a zipper.  While I adore the ones that cinch up with a drawstring at the top, my lack of a waist makes them look more like a potato sack on me.

I also want them to be full length pants, not capris.  I want the legs to be full and flowy and slightly long so I can wear high-heeled wedge sandals but also to be short enough that I can still wear them with flip flops.

Next, I want them to be khaki in color, preferably but would also settle for a neutral of some sort or even black.

Lastly, I want them yesterday.

And there is NO picture because I have not laid eyes on them yet… anywhere on earth, anyway.

If you have seen some or come across some – run, don’t walk to your computer or smartphone and tell me where to find them.

I will reward you in my will.

Daily Covet: Sadly, not so provocative anymore…

Joes Jeans Provocateur, joesjeans.com $169

It’s been a long winter.  My favorite jeans have logged a lot of miles (more than my running shoes can say!)

But sadly, my Joes Provocateur jeans are wearing a bit thin and fading into a color that I’m not sure will ever come back into style.

I know that we are on the verge of summer, in theory anyway, and that usually isn’t the time to buy jeans.  But I’m thinking maybe a deal is to be had.  Somewhere.

And since I am wearing jeans almost daily even though May has officially arrived, maybe I’d even get a chance to wear them!

Daily Covet: Mad about Scout

We’re headed to Disney World and that means mornings in the parks for the kiddos and a little pool time in the afternoons!

As anyone with small children knows, a trip to the pool means towels, snacks, loads of sunscreen, snacks, sun hats, floatees, more snacks and a book that you won’t actually get to read.  With that said, you’d need a pretty sizable bag for all your gear and that bag had better be water resistant with plenty of pockets.

That’s why I love this Scout Pocket Rocket tote specifically marketed for beach and pool.  It has 6 outer pockets, great for holding sunscreen bottles, bottled water or your secret stash of Margaritas upright.  You can also slip in a pair of flip flops or in my case, two pairs of tiny Crocs that can be easily located when it’s time to pack up.  The Pocket Rocket is also water resistant and can be wiped right off should something spill.  Two sets of handles, shoulder and tote, make it even more convenient and it comes in 7 adorable patterns.

What’s not to love?!
