Weekly Covet is now the daily covet…

Blog Stats don’t lie.  Every week when I feature my “Weekly Covet,” the page views spike.  Now, before you go thinking that I’m manipulating y’all by

Bernhardt Market Street Armoire, $3330

posting a daily covet purely for page views, know this:  I love “Wanting!”  I’m actually dying to do this more often, so here it goes:

I live in a great little home in a great little neighborhood.  My house was built in 1925 and boasts sturdy oak floors, leaded glass, hammered metal door knobs and fixtures and more character than you can shake a stick at.  However, as anyone who lives in an old home knows, we are seriously lacking a few things such as a double (or triple) car garage, multiple bathrooms on the second floor and probably the most important for a lifelong covet’er of things – closet space.

While our bedrooms are spacious, the master boasts two small glorified coat closets.  Not super handy for someone who hasn’t stopped buying or saving shoes since 1992.  So my covet du jour is the most beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, amazing piece of furniture.  My favorite item is the armoire, just one piece of  an exquisite bedroom set and I actually want each and every piece of it!

SOHO Turquoise Tufted Rug, $568

Here we go again… more stuff I want!  It’s making me feel so American to want to consume so often.  However, I have been living without a rug on the my cold, hard, wooden bedroom floor for 4+ years.  I just found this great rug on www.GILT.com and it would be absolutely perfect… if I had an extra $600 to spare.

Hmmm, what jobs pay $600 per hour?  Professional Escort?  Today Show Host?  Arena Football Player?  Well, while I’m deciding what my next career is… ponder the wonderful-ness of this rug.  I heart this rug.

The more they age, the more they stay the same…

My husband and I watched the movie “Wall Street,” circa ’87 in preparation for our date this weekend.  We are going to see “Money Never Sleeps.”  It floored me that the men in that movie have not aged.

Tonight, I am watching Jay Leno’s show, whatever it’s called these days… and Patrick Dempsey is plugging his new Transformers movie (sidebar, KACK!)  He hasn’t aged either.

People will say that most women in Hollywood don’t age either but I disagree.  I think they age but they are able to somehow transform them onscreen.  So I decided to make a list of Hollywood leading men that have not changed in 30+ years.

Michael Douglas.  Pre-cancer diagnosis and lack of hair dye.

Charlie Sheen.  Drug problems haven’t ruined this guy’s good looks… maybe his ability to pick good roles… Two and a Half Men but whatever.

Martin Sheen.  This guy has been cryogenically frozen and only gets out to work, I think.  He’s looked the same since “Apocalypse Now” save the mustache he donned for Top Gun but he’s a cute man and actually even made a mustache look good.

Rob Lowe.  He’s on the cover of some men’s magazine this month and all I can say is “Hubba Hubba HU-BUH.”

Tom Cruise.  With the exception of Top Gun, that guy has never looked better (save the times when his hair is longer and greasy looking) or acted worse.

Bruce Willis.  Has always been cute, got H.O.T. after the end of that miniseries with Cybil Shepherd… brain freeze… hair plugs or not, he looks good and has a fabulous body!

Bono, while not technically “Hollywood,” he is an icon.  I haven’t decided which has suffered less, his looks or his voice.  Both are still as smooth as butt-uh!

Sting.  Enough said.

This list could be a long one so I’ll stop there.  The more men I add to the list, the more depressed I become.  While I am all about aging gracefully, especially for women, I am starting to resent my darling husband for also becoming even better looking in his old age (he’ll promptly remind me he’s 18 months younger than I!)

I guess I’ll take solace in the fact that when I am a broke down old lady, I can tell people that the adorable and ageless man that lives at my house, is my “pool boy!”

Next list.  Things to do or get.  Pool.

You’ve done it again, Kate!

To all my pregnant readers, who would otherwise be consumers of tasty cocktails.  See KateSpade.com’s list of “Mocktails” and keep the recipes handy… you know the consumption of the real thing could quite possibly lead to the necessity of the unleaded versions!

J. Crew Erez Skirt, sadly unavailable

OH, how I love sequins!  And lucky for me, they are HUGE this year.  Anything and everything is being juxtaposed with sequins.  While on the virtual hunt for a sequin tunic to wear with some black skinny jeans, I ran across this gorgeous skirt at JCrew, one of my favorite retailers.  How fun would this skirt be for Girl’s Night Out with the back in action denim shirt and some booties or with a black cashmere turtleneck for your holiday party?  The possibilities are endless and bling is an almost everyday favorite!

Unfortunately, in the time it took me to finish up this blog from this morning, the skirt is SOLD OUT at J.Crew so will remain on my “Covet List” and not my “Season Splurge” list.  No fair!

Mid-week covet item…

ok, so I couldn’t wait to feature another covet item… because I WANT a lot of stuff!

A lovely Omaha mom, fan of MOmaha.com and LittleBlackSweats.wordpress.com asked me to post the couch I want for my sunroom (for those of you who have been in my house, that’s DH’s old office!)  So here is the cutest sofa of all time and I “mocked” it up at ballarddesigns.com.  Now to pick some scratch from my money tree to purchase it!

I’m not the only one…

Recently, I wrote a blog for Momaha.com regarding teen costmetic surgery and how sad it was that botox, breast augmentation and liposuction instances are up for the teenage set.  See here for my blog.

Today at the gym, I caught about half of the program, “The Doctors.”  It seems they have the same concerns.  They even referred to the same pop star that I did in my article.  See here to watch more!
